Remembrance Weekend

Finally, after one week (!) I moved the photos of my last trip to Calgary from my cameras to the laptop. It was a very long journey for 3 days:

vancouver-calgary

Google maps says that’s 971 km and about 10 hours 55 min… for me it was a full Saturday to get there and the whole Monday to come back! Like my last long trip in Montana the lanscape was beautiful.

On the way I was looking forward to see some elk (translated in Italian as Cervus Canadensis)

elk

I want to see their antlers because are covered in velvet! Really! There are lot of warning signs on the road

in this area the Elk should be everywhere! …but I haven’t seen one. They even built a wildlife overpass for them

It’s not an urban legend!

I’ve been to Calgary to visit Caterina, a friend from Bologna. She’s finishing her M.Sc. degree thesis on molecular biology. As soon as I arrived (after a shower) we went to a dinner-party held by an Italian couple who cooked homemade pizza!

and then Irish pub

2 nights in in Alberta, 2 Irish pubs!!! For sure there’s more of them there than here in British Columbia…

On Sunday we’ve been with a Caterina’s Mexican friend to Lake Louise for snowboarding! Here in Canada the skiing season begins the first weekend of November!!!

gondola aka seggiovia!

Cervus canadensis sounds Latin to me… :P

Ora io mi domando, ma che ci stiamo a fare in sta verdeisola del cazzo?? Tutti in Canada!!!
